The Bathers is a series of five paintings exploring the communal experience of the Japanese onsen (hot springs). Through this work, Minami examines themes of nudity, female empowerment, and the unique dynamic of women-only spaces. Stripped of social markers, the onsen becomes a place not of sexuality, but of safety and liberation. The empowerment portrayed here is not modeled on a male archetype, but is quietly powerful, rooted in belonging, self-acceptance, and the shared intimacy of community.
